False Alarm

"English is a language of outliers." - Me, to my boyfriend when he tried to butcher an adverb in front of me

About that thing above: Yes, that's what I've always thought. I mean, we have all these grammar and spelling and construction rules...but then we constantly break them. It feels like half of the language is made up at random, with random rules made up on the fly. As a result, there is no bell curve. It's a parabola, vertex down, and the majority of the words we use or modify are on the pointy-uppy bits.

I can't believe I just made a math analogy... *horror*

Anyway, NOCTIS remains untouched--false alarm. Instead I'm going through Avenari yet again...again. I'm on the second edit since last updating here. The first edit resulted in a cut of about 17,000 words (50-ish pages). Of course, that only sounds like a lot if you completely ignore the fact that 300,000 words remain...

TT_TT  Ah, it's a miracle that I don't hate my book yet, but I guess it's nice that I've actually managed to find some really cool places to add some really cool bits.

I blame the anime I've been watching recently.

Vampires. Vampires everywhere~!

And not a drop to drink.

(...They call me the PUNisher.)

  1. English is kind of dumb, but I guess that's what happens when you mash 4 or so languages together over the course of a millenia. I'd really like to learn a less obnoxious language.
Also, forgive me for procrastinating on the wiki. I kind of got dragged into Homestuck for a while.

  2. @Sarel: Yeah, it's a mishmash for sure, but I like how flexible it is for storytelling--no other language is quite up to par in that respect.
